author: Tanaaz Chubb
release: 15 June 2021
publisher: Fair Winds Press
topic: Astrology
* I received the eARC copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
As an almost newbie in Astrology, I enjoyed this book. It has many good points regarding reading your birth chart and learning about planets. And most of all it’s beautifully designed and easy to navigate.
We find here information on astrological houses, aspects, zodiac signs, and planets. Everything is explained so you can start this life-long journey of self-discovery through astrology. “The Ultimate Guide to Astrology” will allow you to understand concepts such as Moon Cycle, Mercury Retrograde, or Saturn Return.
Who is this book for:
✦ Total beginner in Astrology.
✦ Someone who wishes to learn how to create and read their astrological birth chart
✦ A person who is overwhelmed and confused in the astrology field and would like a simple guide through planet and zodiac sign meanings.
✦ Someone who loves aesthetically pleasing books.
What could be improved:
I don’t see many things for improvement. As a beginner, I enjoyed every aspect of this book. I know that to get deeper knowledge about houses and more personal information, I’d have to reach for a more complex book.

Magickal Tarot: Spreads, Spellwork, and Ritual for Creating Your Life
author: Robyn Valentine
release: 22 June 2021
publisher: Fair Winds Press
topic: Tarot
* I received the eARC copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
“Magickal Tarot” is a journey through Major Arcana. It is a book that connects Magick, rituals, and spell-crafting together with tarot energies. It contains an extensive description of each of the 22 Major Arcana cards together with a ritual or a spell that corresponds with their energies.
I enjoyed this quick read. It is pleasantly designed and gave me a deeper understanding of The Fool’s journey. The additional information about numerology, lunar phases, and the four elements are great introductions to further studies and learning more about each of these topics. Magickal Tarot puts an emphasis on symbolism and correspondences of 22 Major Cards and their use in spell crafting.
Who is this book for:
✦ Someone who would like to learn the meaning of Major Arcana cards: both in the upright and reversed version
✦ Beginner tarot reader that wants to connect and form a bond with their tarot deck
✦ A person interested in learning about the energies of Major Arcana cards and how they can be incorporated into magical workings
✦ A witch who likes to try new spells and rituals
What could be improved:
✦ The fact that this book doesn’t contain the meaning of all 78 tarot cards is a bit limiting and I can’t recommend it as an ultimate guide for learning tarot.
✦ The descriptions of each card are based on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot imaginary and it would be great to see their reproductions in the book as well. “Magickal Tarot” illustrations are beautiful, minimalistic, aesthetic, and symbolic, but often lack the described color/depth of the RWS tarot cards’ version.
Herbal Magic: A Handbook of Natural Spells, Charms, and Potions
author: Aurora Kane
release: 29 June 2021
publisher: Wellfleet
topic: Herb Magic
* I received the eARC copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This magical herbal book is great for every Green Witchcraft practitioner. It contains various useful information when working with herbs, flowers, and trees. Additionally, you will find there information on Zodiac Sign, color and candle magic, moon phases, gathering, storing, and keeping herbs, connecting with herbal goddesses, fairies, and spirits of the trees.
What I really liked about “Herbal Magic” is the explanation of the energy (gender) of plants as well as associated elements.
There are 73 herbs, flowers, and trees described in the book. Each one has correspondences of gender, zodiac sign, planetary companion, associated day of the week, magical properties, and suggested uses.
The design of the book is very aesthetic, reminding me of a watercolor journal. It would make a great present for someone at the beginning of their Green witchcraft journey.
Who is this book for:
✦ Beginner Green Witch
✦ Someone who just started learning about magical associations of the herbs
✦ A person looking to connect better with a Goddesses associated with nature and plant work
✦ A witch that wants to try some herbal crafts (there are 36 spells in areas of relationship, health, success, protection, and acceptance)
What could be improved:
I enjoyed the overall experience of reading this book. It has a nice look to it, but there is one font that is hard to read. Otherwise, the design is beautiful and the information provided is sufficient for starting out. I would love to see more herbs and flowers and maybe some extra home decoration/herbal crafts.
Moon Power: Lunar Rituals for Connecting with Your Inner Goddess
author: Simone Butler
release: 29 June 2021
publisher: Fair Winds Press
topic: Moon Magic
* This is a review of a second edition of the book.
* I received the eARC copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
“Moon Power” is a unique book about lunar energies. It is mostly addressed to female readers who would love to reach towards the guidance of their inner Goddess. What I really like about this book is the detailed information on the Moon in the different Zodiacs, which gives a better understanding of the individual traits of every one of us.
Each of the Moon Zodiac Signs has information on personal lunar strengths and shadows, sexual nature, and karmic path. It also presents associated Modern and Ancient Female Figures/Goddesses, sacred animals, as well as tips on how to create specific altars and rituals corresponding with New and Full Moons. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of things to do during Moon being in this zodiac sign as well as some questions for journaling and reflection.
“Moon Power ” is by far the most comprehensive guide on Moon in the Zodiac signs I have ever encountered. I really like the idea of following moon phases, and the information provided in this book is different from the others I have read. The moon changes a zodiac sign each 2,5 day and it’s a great opportunity to time some activities, intentions, and rituals associated with specific lunar phases.
The introduction of the book is great and I really liked learning about different moon phases’ significance according to the time when you were born.
Who is this book for:
✦ Each and every Selenophile
✦ Someone wanting to connect with their inner nature based on their Moon Zodiac sign
✦ A witch, that wishes to time their magic around Moon phases and their zodiac signs
✦ A person interested in Deity work and connecting with different Goddesses
What could be improved
Although I really like the structure and the information presented in this book, I’d love to see more actual information on the Moon. There is a lack of topics such as Blue Moons, Void of Course, and general information on Moon Phases. But I guess there are some other books that cover these topics more thoroughly. I just wish there was a one Moon Magic book that would contain all necessary elements.
